Report from Sir Paul Beresford

This week has been a busy one for Sir Paul in his capacity as Chairman of the Administration Committee. This committee is responsible for the smooth running of the parliamentary estate and the services it provides. The committee is currently considering a wide range of issues ranging from the restoration of the Elizabeth Tower to the catering services provided to Members and their staff. At a time where every penny of public money spent must be fully justified Sir Paul is determined to work with his committee to ensure maximum efficiency for minimal possible cost across the entirety the parliamentary estate.

This week Sir Paul was also pleased to welcome to Parliament a local resident’s group for an enjoyable tour of the Palace of Westminster, a lunch in Portcullis House and an afternoon in the viewing gallery. The feedback received was highly positive and Sir Paul would be more than happy to assist other interested groups in arranging their own visits.

Correspondence

This week Sir Paul has received a large volume of letters on the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, assorted Mole Valley planning matters and their relation to the Green Belt, the importance of safeguarding our precious National Health Service and the need for the government to continue with its long term economic plan and secure the future of the UK economy.
